Apple Crisp
This is one of my favorite desserts to make in the Fall. I love seeing all the surplus and different types of apples in the grocery store come Fall. Our favorites to eat are honey crisp and fuji :) But in this dessert, I use a mix of gala and granny smith. The perfect mix of sweet and tart!
Ingredients:
Apple Mixture
7 apples, peeled, cored and sliced (A mix of gala and granny. If you like things more tart, use more granny)
1 lemon, zested and juiced (2 tbsp lemon juice)
1/3 cup sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp flour
Topping Mixture
scant 3/4 cup flour
3/4 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
6 tbsp cold butter, diced
1/4 tsp salt
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Throw the ingredients for the apple mixture in a bowl and mix until all the apples are thoroughly coated. Place this mixture into a baking dish.
Mix the topping mixture ingredients in a separate bowl. Pour on top of the apple mixture in the dish. 1 hour in the oven, until its bubbling and the top is golden brown and crisp ;)
I like letting it sit for a little out of the oven but do as you wish. Don't forget the vanilla ice cream!
(If your dish is shallow, I would place it on top of a baking sheet while baking.)
